Your post about the chicken coriander dish the other day prompted me to forget the chicken dish I was planning and go for that instead! I added onions and carrots to the curry in the slow cooker and it makes it go further anyway. Thanks for your continued foody inspiration :)

That sounds gorgeous!

(And the mention of celeriac reminds me of my favorite recipe for roast chicken and veg. It's a bit of work, but worth it; nice for serving to a crowd. I love the garlic mashed potato stuffing, and the roast alliums and root veg are delicious, too. The only changes I make to the recipe are interpreting the garlic quantities generously -- those drink-sized jars of peeled garlic? I now use one of those -- and peeling the garlic that goes into the roasting pan. Though, fennel -- that could work.)

I think organic fruit is always much more expensive, so sounds like value to me. How about just peeling & slicing your kiwi over cereal or porridge? :)

Well, last week it was the cabbage that really ponged. You know that good old fashioned 1970s school dinner smell? This week it's more the carrots I think (got celery and a leek in there too). Am wondering if it's because they are a bit old. They had been in the fridge over a week.
Will see what it is like tomorrow. I put some bay leaves in and an old breda crust on top..
